Exuma is the Bahamas at its most surreal. The water here is a shade of blue that doesn't seem real — shallow sandbars appear from nowhere, nurse sharks glide beneath your feet, and yes, there are pigs that swim out to greet your boat. The Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park is one of the most pristine marine environments on earth.

Beaches & Water

Tropic of Cancer Beach is one of the most beautiful in the Bahamas — a long, deserted crescent of white sand on Little Exuma. Stocking Island across from George Town has stunning sandbar beaches and the famous Chat 'N' Chill beach bar. The sandbars of the Exuma Cays shift with the tides, creating new islands every day.

Food & Drinks

Chat 'N' Chill on Stocking Island is the legendary Sunday pig roast spot — conch salad made fresh in front of you, cold Kalik beer, and a crowd of sailors and locals. George Town has a handful of great restaurants along the waterfront. Fresh-caught grouper and cracked conch are the staples.

Nightlife & Vibes

Exuma is laid-back — the nightlife is beach bonfires, sundowners on the boat, and the occasional live rake-and-scrape band at a local bar. The Regatta in April brings the whole island to life with sailboat races, music, and parties that last all night.

Excursions

The Swimming Pigs of Big Major Cay are a bucket-list experience — boat out and feed them from the water. Thunderball Grotto (used in two James Bond films) is a snorkeling cave filled with tropical fish. The Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park is a no-take marine reserve with world-class diving and kayaking.

Local Life

George Town comes alive during the Family Island Regatta every April — the oldest sailing regatta in the Bahamas. The local straw market has handmade crafts and fresh produce. Rolle Town on Little Exuma has one of the oldest settlements in the Bahamas, with historic tombs dating to the 1700s.
